Puerta 36, 2023, Cyanotype, 4 in x 6 in each

Puerta 36 is a series of fourteen photographs taken along the U.S.–Mexico border at Gate 36, a site historically used by migrants to present themselves to immigration authorities in pursuit of asylum. The work reflects the tension between expectation and outcome, as many of those who passed through this gate were later deported for failing to meet the procedural requirements for entry into the United States.
